someone decided . we must live on promises . amid destruction
perhaps they got tired . waiting for the pond to freeze . a broken promise
as leaves change color . a promise is made; next spring . we’ll do it again
promises broken . are never as important . as promises kept
every raindrop . lands but once, delivering . on its promises
in moments of grief many promises are made that need to be kept
any past promise can disappear in the next negotiation
it’s not the weather it’s the false promises made by our calendar
