any past promise can disappear in the next negotiation
to sit and listen without being distracted; why aren’t we taught this
when in the moment everything keeps moving but seems to stand still
with each step we take challenges we face sometimes are just illusions
when given advice it’s oftentimes much later before we get it
no one is poorer for taking a break from work to see the wonder
we huddle closer as the thunderstorm rumbles then release, relieved
we search for answers even before the question has been imagined
in the pouring rain the city stops to listen until it passes
what’s behind the gate is likely better in our imagination
