it’s the idea not the buildings as to why we call someplace home
on a flat surface everything sits calmly and nothing happens
we are taught to trust certain things; and not notice a screw is missing
any decision will carry consequences that we must live with
we try to adjust our eyes to see in the fog we should use our ears
for hours each day the morning glory shows off for cars that can’t see
we would never ask the squash plant to grow apples but we might think it
a mental health break is really just a cat nap with a fancy name
certain barriers are designed, not to contain a threat, rather us
most of our choices are neither on nor off, but somewhere in between
