if it is doing what it is supposed to do it is doing fine
there are ideas that once made sense but today should be abandoned
we should be able to recognize when something no longer applies
once took for granted, it’s amazing how quickly something can vanish
just because a rule once made sense, that doesn’t mean it still does today
