we’re sold memories . of a phony nostalgia . where nothing is real
capturing what was . as nostalgia, history . becomes fantasy
what was forgotten . is oftentimes remembered . superficially
to build a story we will place antique items where they don’t belong
we feel nostalgic for a past that holds us back to our own peril
even as times change we want that which has been true to always be true
we use nostalgia to pretend it was better in our memories
looking back fondly should never be confused with wishing to return
so many items from the past make me wonder what were they thinking
