wisdom casts shadows . created in history . and easily heard
each generation . loses parts of history . so must repeat it
past experience informs possible futures we can prepare for
all of history can be written in the things we have forgotten
some information unknown at the time rewrites the story
we don’t often think . about many common things . or why they’re common
all that we can see is in delicate balance between then and now
there is history to be understood; before real change can happen
those who came before all left tracks, even the ones we don’t remember
what is here today may not be here tomorrow but still leaves its mark
