a surprise awaits an etching by the cold night in frozen beauty
footsteps squeak and crunch on a thin blanket of snow in a winter snap
a subtle shift goes unseen; but a sudden shift commands attention
the road we travel is long and winding; slow down and take in the view
leaves on the sidewalk from different trees will be swept by the same broom
nature plays a song that’s constantly changing key and time signature
despite our efforts to make order in nature nature doesn’t care
where two paths converge they split if you’re walking the other direction
