the change is unseen yet we gauge how time passes by watching decay
just a soft capture of a light, carefree moment can rebuild the day
the days get shorter but the colors of summer still try to survive
free to be taken for granted / by those of us fortunate enough
it has given all no longer blown by the wind it begins its end
it’s built; they don’t come maybe it’s in the wrong place or they don’t exist
no matter how bright it only reaches so far we must light the rest
we surround ourselves with overwhelming clutter and ignore wonder
as summer closes we pretend that we will not miss those lazy days
it happened quickly it was blink and you’ll miss it like all the others
