carried by the wind dormant in the soil for months until the rains came
not without warning it rolls off the horizon and speaks to the soul
the haze pushes back but the sun doesn’t waver as daylight breaks through
the warm breeze cools relaxing with lilac scent as summer begins
almost overnight bare branches have erupted with color and scent
it seemed like a dream during the polar vortex that we would see green
there’s a disruption in the forces of nature skies will be angry
rarely in nature straight lines and right angles are Man forcing order
some grow straight and true others search along the way and build character
the shoots break the ground reaching out for the sunlight glad that winter’s passed
