what looks like decay . is often shedding of what’s . no longer needed
with systems in place . rest comes easier, even . though decay moves in
everything built . also needs to be maintained . it’s not built to last
slowly over time nature begins to reclaim that which we have made
as structures decay we can see the value in thoughtful construction
it’s not all at once so we barely notice as our time slips away
maybe they forgot where they locked it up last fall although, not likely
the aging process brings with it slow decay and doesn’t make a sound
our surfaces shine while the supporting structures are left to decay
colors can be changed a new look, but underneath the metal still rusts
