all we really want is a place where we can go and we’ll feel welcome
we can be haunted by things left undone, things lost but we keep going
barriers are real because we believe they are even if they’re not
there will come a day when everything we have will be memories
a day to ponder to remember what has been think what is to come
it’s a luxury in our busyness to stare off in the distance
as the water dries the surface where it once sat is forever changed
some lights help us see others decorate; we need to tell them apart
even though the past is gone, it’s a reminder of what still may come
facing the new year the artist might approach it as a blank canvas
