designed to work hard its only purpose today; act as barrier
no matter how bright it only reaches so far we must light the rest
either hard wired or bouncing from outer space there seems no escape
we can get worn out by struggle and hardship but mostly it’s just life
we surround ourselves with overwhelming clutter and ignore wonder
as summer closes we pretend that we will not miss those lazy days
it happened quickly it was blink and you’ll miss it like all the others
this moment we’re in where we are sharing this thought has already gone
i get the feeling every now and again that i’m being watched
